I’m doing research on sound design and audio interfaces. Anyone have some recommendations? While poking around, I ran across the Helen Hamlyn Research Centre, out of the the Royal College of Art. The sites states that centre explores “the practical design implications of key social developments. It works with three design communities - students, new graduates, and professionals - to promote inclusive design through practical projects, research, events, exhibitions and publications”.
Check out the past events, research associates, and publications sections.
Note to self: add this reading list to my list of reading lists.

Wow. This is an amazing program and exactly what I’d hoped for. The teachers rock, classes are interesting, and the students in my program as well as in the HCI and the ETC programs tend to be open-minded, interesting, and insightful. There’s a nice interdisciplinary bent here at Carnegie Mellon, which makes it a welcoming place for something as broad as interaction design.
But I have no time. It’s pretty obvious that I’m not gonna have much time to do this weblogging thing with the care I once put into it. Also, the emphasis is going to change. So, I’m just gonna start throwing stuff up - quotes, concepts, research, etc. It’ll also have less to do with the web and usability, but will hopefully be just as interesting, probably more.
